My golf skills have grown over time due to many hours of practice plans, routines and tournament preparation. Appreciation to all of my coaches and trainers that have helped me through the years. Thanks to my parents for their continued love and support!
I got introduced to golf by my father Jay Meral and his great love for the game of golf. From there he enrolled me into the Rob Noel Golf academy where I received one on one instruction from Nic Drezins and Rob Noel. Through many weeks of instruction, I gained confidence to start competing in class events as well as other junior golf tours. I have played several years in the Gulf Coast section of US Kids, lead by Jimmy Headricks, PGA. Also competed in PGA Jr League.
In 2016 I also began competing in the Kelly Gibson Foundation Junior Golf Tour. In 2017, we then started competing in high school competitions and the LA Junior Golf Association events. In 2018 we started playing in other regional Junior Golf events including SJGT, AJGA. In 2018 I also competed in the US Kids Teen World competition in Pinehurst, shooting rounds of 86, 82, & 76, to come in 12th in my age group.
In 2019 & 2020 I have finished 1st in over 60% of all events I have played in, and worse position of 3rd place. My scoring average in 2020 in all tournament events has been 76.
In late 2020 I was introduced to my new swing coach Brad Pullin, who is also coaching Sam Burns a PGA Tour member. He has really helped my game get to the next level, as his way of teaching really spoke to me. I am looking forward to a bright future working with coach Brad, and can't wait to see my future golf game.
Weekly Golf Practice Schedule (during school year)
During the summer I can practice and play much more due to no school obligations, therefore the below routines will be increased greatly.
Weekly Gym Workout Routines
Tournament Preparation Routines
Two days before tournament
Try not to play golf to get some rest. Really just depends on how I am playing/feeling at the time, or if I had a full schedule the prior few days.
Day before the tournament
Will play practice round if available, otherwise will perform 1-2 hour range session, 1-2 hour short game, and play 9-18 holes at home course.
Day of Tournament Warm-up Routine
I always arrive 1 hour before my tee time.
I begin by hitting some putts on the putting green (8-10 mins), then proceed to hit the range. On the range I start stretching and then start with my wedges hitting 5-8 shots of each club, working my way up to the Driver (25 mins). Then I proceed to hit the first two holes of the round visualizing the hole and shots I will hit (3-5 mins).
Then I head to the pitching/chipping area to hit several different shots to get a good feel of the greens (8-10 mins). Then off to the putting green again, to make a few more putts to gain more confidence in green speed, and finish off making a few 3-6 footers (3-5 mins).
I then proceed to first tee to check in with the starter 5-10 mins before my starting time.
